The Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, with its range of 24mm wide-angle to 105mm telephoto, is an ideal all-round lens. It is stabilized, light and compact, and the autofocus with STM motor is ideal for video. The Canon EF 24-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is widely supplied as a kit lens with full-frame Canon cameras. And that makes sense. The range is beautiful, from wide-angle to medium-telephoto. With 24mm to 105mm, you have virtually all common focal lengths with you in one lens. The brightness is perfectly reasonable at f/3.5 in the wide-angle mode. In telephoto, it does decrease to f/5.6, but on a full-frame camera, you can still make portraits with good bokeh. The STM autofocus motor provides a fairly quick focus that also goes very smoothly. That is ideal for making video. The lens is lightweight and compact and is, for example, an ideal lens for the lightweight full-frame Canon EOS 6D Mark II. Together, they form a great set for lightweight travel photography. On APS-C, this lens is comparable to a 38-168mm. From moderate wide-angle to pretty good telephoto. That can also be a very useful range, especially if you use the lens in combination with the excellent video capabilities of, for example, the Canon EOS 80D. De Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is met zijn bereik van 24mm groothoek tot 105mm tele een ideaal allround objectief. Het is gestabiliseerd, licht en compact en de autofocus met STM motor is ideaal voor video. De Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM wordt veel geleverd als kitlens bij full frame Canon camera’s. En dat is logisch. Het bereik is prachtig, van groothoek tot medium tele. Met 24mm tot 105mm heb je vrijwel alle veelgebruikte brandpunten in een objectief bij je. De lichtsterkte is met f/3.5 in de groothoekstand alleszins redelijk. In de telestand neemt het wel af tot f/5.6, maar op een full frame camera kan je daar nog steeds portretten mee maken met een behoorlijk bokeh. De STM autofocusmotor zorgt voor een behoorlijk snelle scherpstelling die ook nog eens heel vloeiend gaat. Dat is ideaal voor het maken van video. De lens is licht van gewicht en compact en het is dus bijvoorbeeld een ideaal objectief voor de lichtgewicht full frame Canon EOS 6D Mark II. Samen vormen ze een prachtige set voor lichtgewicht reisfotografie. Op APS-C is dit objectief vergelijkbaar met een 38-168mm. Van gematigd groothoek tot behoorlijk tele dus. Ook dat kan een heel bruikbaar bereik zijn, zeker als je het objectief gebruikt in combinatie met de uitstekende videomogelijkheiden van bijvoorbeeld de Canon EOS 80D.
