De Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8S is langer dan we gewend zijn van een 50mm Nikon lens. Zelfs de lichtsterkere Nikon 50mm f/1.4G is kleiner. De Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8S is duurder dan we gewend zijn van een Nikon standaardlens.

Het verbaast ons niets. De echt goede standaardlenzen van andere merken zijn ook allemaal groet en zwaarder dan de F vatting Nikon standaard lenzen. Het extra gewicht en de hogere prijs betaalt zich uit in hogere beeldkwaliteit.
