When it comes to build and image quality, the Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2.0 is still one of the best-performing lenses we have ever tested. And that is unique in an era when ever-better, more modern lens designs are being released by all manufacturers at a rapid pace. What makes the Batis 25 mm f/2.0 extra attractive is its low weight, at 3 ounces. It's not rare for a modern wide-angle lens to weigh twice as much. Add to that the typical Zeiss character (a combination of high sharpness, high contrast, beautiful bokeh and characteristic vignetting) and the handy OLED depth of field scale, which - as it should - takes into account the number of megapixels in the camera. Then it is clear that this lens deserves a permanent place in the photo bag of a demanding photographer who wants to achieve the maximum result with a light and compact set of lenses for a mirrorless system camera.

Tel daarbij op het typische Zeiss karakter (een combinatie van hoge scherpte, hoog contrast, mooie bokeh en karakteristieke lichtafval) en de handige OLED scherptediepteschaal, die - zoals het hoort - rekening houdt met het aantal megapixels in de camera. Dan is duidelijk dat dit objectief een vaste plaats verdient in de fotoas van een veeleisende fotograaf die het maximale resultaat wil behalen met een licht en compact setje lenzen voor een systeemcamera.
